What is the role of ambient air in evaporative cooling systems?
Ambient air is the heat-transfer medium that enables water evaporation and thermal exchange. Its temperature and relative humidity determine the efficiency of the process: under dry-air conditions, the evaporative effect is at its maximum. Proper management of airflow and recirculation ensures optimal performance. Local meteorological data are particularly useful for predicting annual performance—often through dedicated software developed by manufacturers—and for optimizing system sizing.
