Torri di Raffreddamento a Circuito Chiuso per Banco Prova Motori di ISMA Treviglio

Closed-Circuit Cooling Towers for Engine Test Bench

MITA built the cooling system for the electronically controlled hydraulic test bench at the Experimental Institute for Agricultural Mechanization (ISMA) in Treviglio: an MCC C series closed-loop evaporative tower. Among the benefits brought by the plant are reduced operating costs and water use.

  • Experimental Institute for Agricultural Mechanization
  • Engine test bed cooling (process oils)
  • Provision of a closed-loop tower, to keep the fluid unchanged, and high efficiency

1. Installation context

The Experimental Institute for Agricultural Mechanization (ISMA) is an institute of the Ministry of Agriculture, founded in 1967, with several headquarters in Rome and a peripheral one in Treviglio: its purpose is the improvement and new implementation of agricultural machinery.

At its headquarters in Treviglio, Bergamo Province (Italy), an electronically controlled hydraulic test bench for vehicles up to 15 T is in operation: the process oils in this device needed a high-performance cooling solution that would keep the quality of the oils unchanged.

2. Proposed solution

To meet the oil cooling needs of the Institute’s hydraulic test bench, an MCC M closed-circuit cooling tower was provided: non-corrodible fiberglass body, easy access and internal inspection through internal doors.

The solution adopts a closed circuit to keep the process liquid unaffected and ensures efficiency and performance typical of evaporative technologies.

3. The key to success

The supplied cooling tower has met the cooling needs of the Experimental Institute for Agricultural Mechanization: results include the high efficiency and performance typical of evaporative cooling, the non-alterability of the process fluid due to the closed circuit, and the ease of inspection and maintenance of the solution due to the side doors.
